Getting to and from Heathrow

Heathrow sits on the western edge of Greater London, beside the M4 and the M25. That position makes it convenient for west London, the Thames Valley and towns such as Windsor, Slough and Reading, as well as central London. It is also the airport most likely to be affected by motorway congestion, so we plan departure pickups with a sensible margin and watch for incidents on the M4 and the M25 on the day.

Heathrow handles a very large number of long-haul flights, which means many passengers arrive early in the morning after an overnight journey, often with heavy luggage. We think about that when recommending a car. A family returning from a long holiday with several suitcases is usually more comfortable in an executive MPV than a saloon, and it is far easier to decide this at the quote stage than at the kerb.

Terminals

Heathrow has several passenger terminals, spread across the airport rather than side by side. Terminals 2 and 3 are close to one another in the central area, while Terminals 4 and 5 are separate and reached by different roads. Your airline and flight number decide which terminal you use, so please check your booking and tell us. If an airline moves terminal, our team will update the chauffeur.

Pickup at Heathrow, step by step

When you land, our team will already have checked your flight status, so a delay or an early arrival does not leave you without a car. Your chauffeur parks near your terminal and comes into the arrivals hall with a name board. Take your time at passport control and baggage reclaim, then look for your name as you come through.

Queues at immigration vary a great deal at Heathrow, especially when several long-haul flights land together. The free waiting time that applies to your pickup, and the parking arrangements, are shown on this page. If you are held up for a long time, message us and we will keep the chauffeur informed.

For departures, we suggest you leave plenty of time and follow your airline's advice on when to be at the terminal. Journey times depend on traffic and time of day, and the M4 corridor can be slow in the morning and evening peaks. Your chauffeur will drop you at the departures forecourt of your terminal.

Heathrow also links well to the rest of our service. Many customers combine a flight with a Southampton cruise transfer, or book a car for a meeting straight from arrivals through our corporate travel service.

Questions about Heathrow transfers

How do I know which Heathrow terminal I need?

Your terminal depends on your airline and flight. Check your airline booking and include the terminal when you get a quote; if the airline changes terminal, tell us and we will update the chauffeur.

What happens if my flight into Heathrow is delayed?

Our team checks your flight status before pickup and adjusts the collection time if you are running late. You do not need to call us about a delay we can see.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at Heathrow?

In the arrivals hall of your terminal, after you clear customs and collect your luggage. Your chauffeur holds a board showing your name.

Can you take us from Heathrow to Windsor or Reading rather than central London?

Yes. Heathrow is on the western side of London, so journeys into Berkshire and the Thames Valley are common. Enter your destination and we will quote for it.

Is a saloon big enough after a long-haul flight?

It depends on your luggage. If you have several large suitcases, an executive MPV usually gives more room. Tell us about your bags and we will recommend a car.

Flying into or out of Heathrow?

Send your flight details and we will confirm your transfer.
