Why people drive to the ship
Cruise holidays come with more luggage than most trips. Formal clothes, several changes a day, and often a few extras for different climates. Getting all of that onto a train, across a station and into a taxi at the other end takes the shine off the first day of a holiday. The ports that serve London are all some distance from the city, and each is in a different direction. That is why we treat port transfers as planned journeys rather than quick hops. We look at your embarkation window, the port you are sailing from and the time of year, then suggest a pickup time that leaves sensible room for traffic.

- Southampton — on the south coast in Hampshire, and the home of many UK cruise departures.
- Portsmouth — also on the Hampshire coast, a little further east than Southampton.
- Dover — in Kent, south-east of London, facing the Channel.
- Tilbury — on the Thames in Essex, the closest of the cruise ports to the capital.
- Harwich — on the Essex coast to the north-east, often used for sailings to northern Europe.

Coming home
Disembarkation days can be unpredictable. Ships sometimes dock early or late, and leaving the terminal depends on when your group is called. When you book the return leg, give us the ship name and the expected arrival day. Our team keeps in touch with you about timings so your chauffeur is ready when you walk out with your bags.
If you are travelling as a large family or group, a minibus may suit better than two cars. Group vehicles are supplied through licensed partner operators, and we arrange the booking for you.

Cruise transfer questions
How much luggage can I bring?
It depends on the vehicle. Tell us how many large cases and smaller bags you are taking, and we will only offer vehicles that fit them comfortably. For lots of luggage, a people carrier is often the best choice.
Can you collect me when the ship returns?
Yes. Book the return leg with your ship name and expected arrival day. We stay in touch about timings, as disembarkation can vary on the day.
Which port is closest to London?
Tilbury, on the Thames in Essex, is the nearest cruise port to the capital. Southampton, Portsmouth, Dover and Harwich are further away, and journey times depend on traffic and time of day.
Can you pick up from a hotel the night before my cruise?
Of course. Many travellers stay in London or near the port before sailing. Give us the hotel address as your pickup and we will plan from there.
