London City Airport sits on the water in the Royal Docks, in the London Borough of Newham. Unlike the other London airports, it lies inside the city itself, a few miles east of the Square Mile and very close to Canary Wharf and the ExCeL exhibition centre. Its runway is short and its aircraft are smaller, so flights carry fewer passengers and the terminal is compact.
